How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Supply Teachers to work on a daily supply basis across a range of welcoming and supportive schools in the Portsmouth areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers who are looking for flexible working while gaining experience in different school environments.

    As a Supply Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and ensuring pupils remain engaged in their learning throughout the school day. Assignments can vary from one-day cover to short-term placements, providing valuable experience across different schools and year groups.

    This role is ideal for experienced teachers looking for flexibility as well as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who want to build confidence, develop classroom management skills, and gain exposure to a variety of school settings.

    Key responsibilities

    * Delivering pre-planned lessons across the primary curriculum

    * Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

    * Ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged in their work

    * Following school policies and safeguarding procedures

    * Providing feedback to the school at the end of the day where required

    Requirements

    * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

    * Experience teaching within a primary or secondary school setting

    * Strong classroom management and communication skills

    * Flexibility, reliability, and adaptability

    * An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
