    Technical Sales Specialist – Scientific Equipment

    Territory: Northern England, Scotland & Northern Ireland


    An established manufacturer of specialist laboratory equipment used in chemical research is looking to appoint a Technical Sales Specialist to manage and develop a territory across Northern England & Scotland. Offering a comeptitive salary and commission scheme!


    This is a field-based commercial role supporting chemists and research teams across industry and academia, helping them identify the right solutions for their laboratory workflows.


    You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with organisations across the pharmaceutical, CRO, biotech, chemical and academic sectors, building long-term partnerships and developing new business across a region with strong growth potential.


    The Role

    You will take ownership of a defined territory, developing relationships with both new and existing customers while managing the full sales cycle.


    Key responsibilities:

    • Developing new business opportunities across pharmaceutical, CRO, biotech and academic laboratories

    • Managing relationships with existing customers through regular site visits

    • Delivering technical demonstrations, product training and presentations

    • Managing key accounts and identifying growth opportunities

    • Maintaining accurate sales activity and pipeline tracking within CRM systems

    • Representing the company at exhibitions, workshops and industry events

    • Collaborating with internal technical, marketing and commercial teams


    The role is primarily field-based, typically involving 3–4 days per week visiting customers, with occasional overnight travel.


    About You

    This opportunity suits someone with a strong chemistry background who enjoys engaging with scientists and building commercial relationships.


    Suitable backgrounds may include:

    • Technical Sales Specialist or Territory Sales Manager within scientific equipment

    • Applications Scientist looking to move into a commercial role

    • Process, Scale-Up or Development Chemist interested in transitioning into sales


    Key requirements:

    • BSc or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

    • Experience working with or supporting laboratory-based chemists

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

    • Self-motivated and organised, able to manage a large territory independently

    • Comfortable delivering demonstrations and engaging with senior scientific stakeholders

    • Full UK driving licence


    Territory

    The region covers Northern England & Scotland, so candidates are ideally based within the territory to allow efficient travel to customer sites.
