A leading global technology research organisation is seeking a Computational Linguist to support advanced research in multilingual AI and language technologies.
You will join a highly respected research team working on projects involving machine translation, speech technologies (ASR/TTS), and large language models, contributing linguistic expertise to improve how AI systems understand and generate human language across multiple languages.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse AI model outputs to identify linguistic error patterns and quality issues
- Perform linguistic analysis on large multilingual datasets
- Develop annotation guidelines and evaluation frameworks for language AI systems
- Support research across machine translation, speech technologies and LLM-based translation
- Conduct linguistic research, including typology, sociolinguistics and corpus analysis
- Collaborate closely with research scientists, engineers and language experts
Requirements
- Third level qualification in Linguistics or a related field
- Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi or another major Indian language, with knowledge of Indo-Aryan or Dravidian languages
- Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati, any one or more of these languages.
- Strong theoretical grounding in syntax, morphology, sociolinguistics and language typology
- Programming skills in Python and the ability to work with data (SQL or similar)
- Exposure to Natural Language Processing or language AI systems
