    Technical Buyer (Capital Projects) – 6‑Month FTC

    Location: Swansea, South Wales (on‑site)

    Salary: £100,000 pro rata

    Contract: 6‑month Fixed Term Contract

    Hours: Full‑time, 5 days per week

    Eligibility: Full UK working rights & full UK driving licence required

    Start: ASAP


    Are you an experienced technical buyer with strong capital procurement expertise?


    This is a high‑impact opportunity to join a major UK industrial environment and take ownership of technically‑complex capital purchasing across multiple project streams.


    You’ll be the technical procurement specialist supporting engineering, operations and project delivery teams—ensuring all capital investments are sourced competitively, contracted robustly, and delivered effectively.


    The Opportunity

    As a Technical Buyer (Capital Projects), you will:

    • Manage end‑to‑end procurement for a portfolio of capital projects (equipment, engineering services, materials and works).
    • Lead tendering, technical evaluations, supplier negotiations and contract placement.
    • Ensure alignment with internal processes, procurement governance and regulatory standards.
    • Build strong working relationships with engineers, project managers and internal stakeholders to understand technical requirements and delivery drivers.
    • Select suppliers based on capability, compliance, commercial risk and long‑term value.
    • Monitor and report project-related financial benefits and sourcing outcomes.
    • Maintain robust audit trails and documentation at all stages.


    About You

    You’ll excel in this role if you have:

    • 5+ years’ procurement or commercial experience with significant large scale project capex exposure.
    • Strong grasp of technical specifications, engineering documentation and capital project lifecycle.
    • Proven ability to negotiate bespoke terms and conditions independently.
    • Solid contract law and procurement governance knowledge.
    • Excellent communication, analysis, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
    • A proactive mindset, with the ability to challenge, guide and influence cross‑functional teams.
    • Highly organised approach and a natural attention to detail.


    Desirable:

    • Degree‑level education or equivalent industry experience.
    • CIPS membership or progress toward it.
