How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial Litigation Associate - Manchester


    The Role


    We are partnering with a leading City-led, international law firm to recruit an Associate with contentious experience to join their cross-office Commercial Disputes team. This role offers exposure to both national and cross-border disputes, working with clients across a broad range of sectors. You will be encouraged to think commercially, acquiring excellent technical expertise, client management and profile-raising skills.


    This role offers the chance to develop your career within a respected Legal 500 practice, known for its broad expertise and forward‑thinking approach. Based in the firm’s Manchester office, you will be joining a business that values innovation, diversity and a supportive working environment across all its national and international teams.


    The ideal candidate will have wide-ranging experience advising clients in commercial litigation matters through litigation, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution. The work type shall include but not be limited to a variety of disputes, including contractual and commercial claims, public law disputes, professional negligence, injunctions, reputation management issues and contentious insolvency matters.


    The successful candidate will be expected to work with limited supervision but with the benefit of full administrative support.


    The Candidate


    • Commercial Litigation Associate with 4+ years PQE
    • Experience in insolvency will be beneficial but not essential
    • Contentious experience in a broad range of matters
    • Assist partners and senior lawyers on more substantial or complex matters
    • The ability to take on responsibility and manage own caseload, working independently when appropriate
    • Excellent organisation and time-management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Professional and effective communication with individual and business contacts
