The Role
As an Analytical Research & Development Scientist, you will play a vital part in the development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods that support the release and stability assessment of new pharmaceutical products. Working within a fast‑paced R&D environment, you’ll independently deliver high‑quality scientific outputs, contribute to regulatory submissions, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to drive projects forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods, including dissolution methods, ensuring suitability for product release and stability monitoring.
- Conduct physical and chemical testing on prototype formulations, assessing stability and establishing provisional shelf life in full compliance with GLP and (where relevant) GMP.
- Create, review, and continuously improve product specifications, analytical methodologies, and process documentation.
- Prepare and review validation reports, analytical methods, COSHH assessments, SOPs/WRKs, and scientific protocols, ensuring alignment with regulatory and company standards.
- Support CTD Module 3 submissions by generating data and drafting responses to regulatory RFIs.
- Participate in and lead technical discussions within cross‑functional project teams, promoting strong collaboration and scientific best practice.
- Investigate and resolve moderately complex analytical challenges, deviations, and project issues while maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Degree in a laboratory‑based scientific discipline (or equivalent).
- Minimum GCSE grade A–C (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
- Extensive experience of relevant method development is essential.
- Hands‑on experience with a wide range of analytical instruments and software for physical and chemical analysis.
- Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects and develop impactful testing plans.
- Strong data interpretation skills with the ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports.
- Proven capability to develop, document, and execute moderately complex analyses or experiments.
