Corporate Tax Lawyer - London - 5+ PQE
A leading international law firm in London is seeking a mid‑senior level Tax Associate with 5+ PQE to join its expanding tax practice. This is a strategic hire in a busy and highly regarded team that balances technical excellence, commercial insight, and a supportive working environment. The firm is committed to delivering top-tier tax advice to multinational clients across multiple sectors while fostering a culture that prioritises professional development and wellbeing.
Team Structure and Culture
The London tax team is structured to provide a combination of senior guidance and meaningful responsibility for associates. The team comprises five partners, three counsel, and seven associates. Despite its relatively lean size, it is highly active, with a broad and complex mandate portfolio.
Associates in the team are given significant responsibility early, including client interaction, drafting and reviewing advice, and managing transaction components. The leadership prioritises mentorship, knowledge sharing, and open communication. The culture is collaborative rather than hierarchical, encouraging team members to contribute ideas, take ownership of their work, and develop their technical and commercial skills.
The team is known for its approachable and supportive environment. Senior lawyers are accessible, fostering learning and professional growth while maintaining high standards on client service. The combination of technical excellence, collegiality, and opportunity for personal growth is a key differentiator in the market.
Scope of Work
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of technically sophisticated tax matters across multiple practice areas, including:
- Cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including structuring for efficiency and risk mitigation
- Corporate reorganisations and group restructurings
- Tax planning related to financing and structured transactions
- Advisory support on real estate, infrastructure, and energy projects
- International tax and treaty matters, including transfer pricing
- VAT and other indirect tax advisory work
Associates will work closely with multiple practice areas within the firm, including corporate, finance, real estate, and funds teams. This provides a unique opportunity to gain cross-disciplinary exposure and contribute to multi-jurisdictional transactions. Work will involve both strategic advisory and transactional elements, requiring strong drafting skills, technical analysis, and direct engagement with clients and external advisors.
The team’s portfolio includes high-profile and complex mandates for multinational corporations, investment funds, and financial institutions. Associates will benefit from hands-on involvement in matters that are often innovative and at the forefront of market developments. The role allows for meaningful impact and recognition from senior lawyers, making it highly rewarding for ambitious candidates.

- Demonstrate technical expertise, strong drafting ability, and commercial awareness
- Can contribute independently on complex matters while collaborating effectively with senior colleagues
- Are open-minded, flexible, and eager to develop across a range of tax disciplines
