Job title - Material Controller (High-Volume Supply Chain)
Location: Goole – Office Based
Sector: Rail Systems
Contract length: 6 months
Rate: £15.87 per hour PAYE
Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for a Material Controller to work for the Rail Systems service at Siemens.
The Challenge: Scale, Velocity, and Complexity
This is not a "warehouse inventory" role or a "data monitoring" position. We are looking for a Supply Chain professional who thrives in high-intensity environments where the "desk is never clear." You will be joining the Siemens Rolling Stock business, managing the material lifecycle for a portfolio of 400+ suppliers and a stock value of £230m. With over 55,000 SKUs and 12,000+ annual orders, this role requires a candidate who can maintain 100% data integrity while navigating a fast-paced, complex order book.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the Order Book: You won't just look at reports; you will actively own the end-to-end "health" of your portfolio, processing 10–50 orders daily and managing over 1,000 open lines at any given time.
- Combat Production Downtime: You are the primary gatekeeper. You will identify "stock-out" risks before they happen, ensuring critical parts are available exactly when needed to keep the production lines moving.
- Supplier Diplomacy: Act as the lead point of contact for external vendors. You will negotiate delivery dates, resolve invoice discrepancies, and hold suppliers accountable to Lead Time Accuracy.
- SAP Mastery: Use SAP as a functional execution tool (placing/managing orders) rather than just a viewing platform. You will be responsible for the absolute accuracy of source lists and quantities.
Who We Are Looking For:
The hiring manager is specifically looking for "Large Scale" experience. If you have only managed a few hundred SKUs or a small handful of suppliers, this role will likely be a step too far.
Mandatory Requirements:
- High-Volume Background: Proven experience in a heavy-industry supply chain (Rail, Aerospace, Automotive, or large-scale Manufacturing/Electronics).
- Functional SAP Expertise: You must be able to demonstrate how you use SAP to place and manage the lifecycle of a PO. Experience only in "viewing" or "reporting" is insufficient.
- Mass Prioritization Skills: The ability to look at 1,000+ open lines and use logic to determine what needs to be chased first based on production criticality.
- KPI Fluency: You should be comfortable discussing and hitting targets for OTD (On-Time Delivery), Stock-Critical Measures, and Lead Time Accuracy.
- Resilience: A background in fast-moving environments (like 24/7 aviation maintenance or automotive assembly) where demand changes daily.
Technical Toolkit:
- SAP: Deep functional knowledge.
- Excel: Advanced (VLookups, Pivot Tables, and Data Manipulation are essential).
- PowerBI: Exposure is highly desirable for tracking portfolio performance.
