Communications Lead – Transformation Programme

Purpose of the Role
The Communications Lead will design, own, and deliver the multi‑year communications strategy that supports the organisation’s Transformation Programme. The role ensures clear, consistent, and engaging communication for all internal and external audiences, driving cultural alignment, building programme understanding, and ensuring organisational readiness for change.
Working in close partnership with the CTO, CCO, and Group Communications, the Communications Lead will shape core messaging, manage communication channels, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders throughout the transformation journey.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Leadership
- Define and deliver an integrated communications strategy for the Transformation Programme.
- Ensure alignment between programme updates, organisational priorities, and wider corporate messaging.
Content Development & Delivery
- Produce compelling, high‑quality content tailored to diverse audiences, including presentations, scripts, FAQs, newsletters, and campaign materials.
- Translate complex programme information into clear, engaging narratives.
Channels & Platforms Management
- Manage internal and external communication channels, ensuring consistent and timely dissemination of key messages.
- Oversee digital platforms, intranet content, email campaigns, and live event communications.
Leadership Enablement
- Coach and support senior leaders to deliver effective communication.
- Develop toolkits, briefing materials, and leadership messaging to strengthen visibility and engagement.
Insight & Engagement Monitoring
- Design and analyse pulse surveys and feedback loops to assess understanding, sentiment, and engagement.
- Use data‑driven insights to shape future communication approaches.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience within a communications agency or corporate communications team, ideally at Manager or Head of Communications level.
- Proven ability to operate in high‑pressure or crisis‑driven environments.
- Strong expertise across multi‑channel communication formats (digital, in‑person, written).
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and message development skills.
- Ability to influence, engage, and coach senior leaders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience navigating complex organisations.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, ambiguous, and evolving environments.
Qualifications & Additional Experience
- Experience supporting large‑scale transformation or change programmes.
- Familiarity with employee engagement tools and internal communications platforms.
- Experience designing, delivering, and interpreting engagement metrics and pulse surveys.
- Deep understanding of multi‑channel communication approaches including digital platforms, intranet, email, events, and visual content.
- Track record of producing high‑quality communication assets such as town halls, presentations, leadership scripts, FAQs, and internal campaigns.
- Experience in complex, multi‑site, or regulated sectors (e.g., transport, infrastructure, public services) is advantageous.
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or equivalent professional experience.
