Optical Assistant - Order Processing & Operations
Glasgow City Centre
£27,500 Basic Salary
This is a great opportunity for an Optical Assistant who understands optics, frames and lens types, but would prefer a more operational, behind-the-scenes role where you keep everything running smoothly.
Our client is a rapidly expanding luxury eyewear specialist, and due to continued growth, they are looking for a highly organised Optical Assistant to manage and triage several hundred orders per week in a fast-paced, detail-focused role that sits at the heart of the operation.
The Role
- Manage 100+ daily spectacle and sunglasses orders
- Process and check orders for accuracy and completeness
- Triage orders based on urgency and importance
- Liaise closely with the internal Customer Experience team regarding order updates and queries
- Monitor workflow to ensure deadlines are met
- Identify and escalate any issues that could impact turnaround times
- Help maintain smooth, efficient operational processes at all times
This role has minimal patient-facing interaction and it’s not a dispensing role, instead, you will act as the vital internal link between ordering, production and customer experience — ensuring customers receive their eyewear on time and to the highest standard.
Who This Would Suit
- An experienced Optical Assistant with strong product knowledge (frames & lenses)
- Someone currently working in an opticians who enjoys the technical side but not necessarily constant face-to-face interaction
- A highly organised individual who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment
- Someone confident managing high volumes of work with accuracy
- A detail-focused problem solver who takes pride in keeping things running efficiently

Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:30pm
- One Saturday in three: 9:00am – 3:00pm
- When working a Saturday, you still only work five days that week (e.g. Tuesday to Saturday)
