The Role
As a Technical Designer within Modus’ Core team, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing technical delivery of complex workplace and commercial interior projects for key, long-standing clients. Working across multiple live environments, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and managing detailed technical design information that supports seamless project delivery, consistency of standards and long-term client relationships.
This role requires an experienced technical professional who can operate confidently across multiple accounts, balancing design excellence with practicality, compliance and programme demands. You will act as a trusted technical contact, collaborating closely with project managers, consultants, contractors and client stakeholders to ensure designs are robust, coordinated and deliverable.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Design Coordination: Spearhead the technical design coordination process, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration between interior designers, technical teams, and construction professionals.
• Oversee Technical Documentation: Oversee the production of detailed Revit models and comprehensive technical drawing packages, ensuring strict compliance with industry regulations, building codes, and client requirements.
• Manage Technical Design Process: Manage the technical design process end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness throughout project execution. This includes producing and managing full technical documentation.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key liaison with specialist sub-contractors, engineers, and commercial teams to facilitate the delivery of high-quality workplace interiors, resolving technical challenges proactively.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Conduct regular site visits to oversee installations, resolve complex design challenges, and ensure strict adherence to specifications and quality standards. Collaborate extensively with building control officers and external consultants to guarantee compliance with all necessary statutory regulations.
Skills & Experience
• Education: Architectural, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture degree/post-graduate level or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience: Significant proven experience in commercial office fit-out within a Design and Build environment. This role requires a strong understanding of the entire project lifecycle in a D&B context.
• Technical Proficiency: An expert Revit user, with a deep knowledge of building construction. The ideal candidate will have a solution focused mindset and an openness to resolve buildability/ viability issues for innovative design proposals
• Technical Acumen: Demonstrated strong technical acumen with keen attention to detail, capable of producing and managing detailed design drawings and materials schedules.
• Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards, with the ability to ensure designs comply.
• Communication & Presentation: Confidence and extensive experience in client-facing roles with exceptional, articulate presentation skills.
• Project Management Skills: Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple simultaneous projects.
• Commercial Awareness: Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience with advanced building knowledge.
• Good freehand drawing skills.
• Ability to thrive under pressure, consistently meeting deadlines, particularly during pitches and tenders.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire others towards common objectives and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
