Project Site Supervisor (Healthcare Projects)
We are seeking an experienced Project Site Supervisor to oversee the safe delivery of capital and lifecycle works within a live NHS hospital environment. The role is responsible for day-to-day site supervision, contractor management and coordination of works, ensuring full compliance with healthcare standards, statutory legislation and infection control requirements, while minimising disruption to clinical services and patient care.
This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive, highly organised individual with strong health and safety leadership and experience operating in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate on-site project activities, workforce deployment and sequencing of works in line with clinical and operational requirements.
- Manage subcontractors and specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with site rules, Safe Systems of Work and healthcare-specific standards.
- Administer and control the Permit to Work process, including accurate referencing, approval and close-out.
- Review, approve and manage contractor documentation including RAMS, COSHH, competencies and insurance prior to commencement.
- Ensure compliance with HTM/HBN guidance, NHS infection prevention and control standards, CDM Regulations 2015 and organisational policies.
- Maintain accurate site records including diaries, inspections, inductions and progress reports.
- Monitor programme delivery, escalating risks, delays or issues that may impact safety, budget or clinical services.
- Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders including Trust representatives, clinical teams and third-party partners.
- Provide out-of-hours supervision as required in support of a 24/7 healthcare environment.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a site supervision or project delivery role within construction, engineering, FM or infrastructure.
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation, CDM 2015 and Permit to Work systems.
- Experience reviewing and managing task-specific RAMS.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and CAFM/project systems (e.g. Maximo or equivalent).
- SMSTS or SSSTS (or equivalent).
- Flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends if required.
Desirable
- Experience in a live healthcare, PFI/PPP or similarly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of HTM/HBN and NHS Estates guidance.
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Experience using Maximo or similar CAFM systems.
- Project management qualification (e.g. APM Foundation).
