Lead the future of fleet at a major UK transport operator
We are working with one of the UK’s leading transport and logistics operators, recognised for its national footprint, modern asset base, and long-term commitment to safety, performance, and sustainability.
As part of continued investment and growth, the business is seeking an experienced General Manager of Fleet to take national ownership of fleet engineering, compliance, performance, and strategy — playing a critical role in shaping how the fleet evolves over the coming years.
This is a senior leadership role with real influence across asset strategy, supplier management, sustainability, and cost control.
The role
Reporting to the Fleet Director, the General Manager of Fleet will lead the fleet function at a national level, ensuring vehicles and trailers operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently, while delivering the lowest total cost of ownership across the asset lifecycle.
About you
You are a commercially minded fleet leader with strong technical credibility and the confidence to operate at senior level.
Essential:
- Qualified in HGV Repair and Maintenance
- Transport Manager CPC
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance, and safety standards
- Commercial and financial acumen
- Proven ability to develop and deliver fleet strategies and budgets
- Experience leading and engaging teams
- Track record of delivering service and cost improvements
- Willingness to travel nationally, with occasional overnight stays
