    Job description

Climate17 is delighted to be partnering with a commercial transport provider as they look to recruit an Environmental Lead to join the Team and advance the company’s commitment to protecting the environment, whilst ensuring business growth and profitability.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, dedicated, proactive and autonomous Environmental Manager to help improve the management systems and ensure continued compliance with various environmental legislation and regulations.

Reporting to the Head of Safety, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering environmental compliance for both maritime and shore-based operations so you will have experience of having worked with companies to identify and assess risks and find appropriate solutions to these. You’ll have experience of reducing waste, pollution prevention and energy efficiency and working with departments to embed environmental controls into everyday operations.

The business reports against a number of frameworks including ESOS, SECR, ETS and GRESB so experience of coordinating the collection of data and evidence for these is required, as is liaising with verification bodies. You will be developing and maintaining the Environmental Management System and, whilst the organisation doesn’t yet hold ISO accreditation, this is definitely something they want to achieve, so prior experience of having implemented an ISO management system would be advantageous.

You will most likely hold a relevant environmental degree, together with an internal auditor qualification and if you’re a Lead Auditor, that would be beneficial. In addition, you’ll be competent at developing and improving policies and procedures and you’ll be comfortable reviewing large, complex data sets and overseeing an Analyst who will support you with this.

In addition to technical skills, you will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills and be comfortable engaging with a range of companies externally (including a consultancy) and departments internally.

Based at their Headquarters in Portsmouth near Gunwharf Quays, you will be required to be in the offices for 2 to 3 days a week, and you will also have to travel to the sites, which are all in Hampshire. As such, a valid driving license is essential, together with a willingness to travel across the estate when required.

So, if you are based on the South Coast, within commutable distance of Portsmouth and you possess the relevant skills and experience and would like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity, please reach out to Katie Pereira at Climate17 to discuss further.
