About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Product Development Lead to join our team at ProAmpac Elsham. This role is critical in leading our product development and technical teams to deliver innovative, high-performance, and sustainable film solutions. You will guide material science initiatives, new product strategies, and technical programs to achieve profitable growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the identification and assessment of new polymer resins, additive packages, and extrusion technologies.
- Ensure new product developments align with existing blown film extrusion capabilities; identify and justify new equipment or process upgrades when needed.
- Optimise film structures for performance, sustainability, and profitability through downgauging, resin substitution, and process efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to translate customer needs into film specifications and successful product launches.
- Partner with internal teams and suppliers to drive innovation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage technical investigations, material and process changes, and document validation results.
- Lead and prioritise R&D projects to ensure efficient use of lab and production resources, focusing on scalable, commercially viable solutions.
- Ensure compliance with global food contact and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU 10/2011, REACH).
- Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers to support co-development and performance validation.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for the R&D and technical team.
About You
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in blown film manufacturing with proven experience in materials science, product development, and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of polymers, lamination practices, and product commercialisation.
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong communicator with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Highly organised, proactive, and confident professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
