    British Olympic Association and Team GB


    Team GB is the British and Northern Irish Olympic team – one of the nation’s most successful teams and one of its favourite brands. Run by the British Olympic Association (BOA), Team GB competes at Olympic and Olympic Winter Games and other events such as the European Games, Youth Olympic Games and European Youth Olympic Festivals. The BOA is independent and privately funded. Our success is entirely dependent upon the income we receive from our commercial programmes, including but not limited to sponsorship, fundraising, licensing and events. 


    The Role


    The British Olympic Association is looking to recruit an Athlete Services Coordinator to help build on the success of Team GB. The postholder will support the delivery of world-class Athlete Services to the following:


    • Athletes representing or aspiring to represent Team GB at IOC and EOC sanctioned events including the Olympic/Olympic Winter Games, the European Games, Youth Olympic Games, and the European Youth Olympic Festivals.
    • BOA Athletes’ Commission (BOA AC) - ensuring the ‘voice of the athlete’ is at the heart of the BOA decisions and programmes
    • Alumni of Olympians, working with GB Olympians Association
    • Family and friends of elite athletes 


    Key Responsibilities


    Day-to-day deliverables


    Provide administrative and coordinator support to daily Athlete Services programmes according to business needs, such support includes but is not limited to:


    Athlete Support Strategy

    • Supporting objectives-based athlete experience
    • Management of Team GB Connect and its database, ensuring the programme continues to be fit for purpose and the database is kept up to date.
    • Work with the Sport Engagement Team to verify nominations of athletes to the programme on an annual basis.
    • Work with the Commercial team to identify opportunities to grow the support of athletes as part of Team GB Connect.
    • Manage and deliver initiatives linked to Team GB Connect as required
    • Build opportunities for Team GB Olympians to develop, engage and continue to contribute to the Olympic Movement as part of Team GB Connect.
    • Liaise with the GB Olympians Association on activities to engage the Team GB Alumni
    • Working with the social impact team to build and disseminate opportunities with the Team GB Foundation.


    BOA Athletes’ Commission (BOA AC)

    • Provide administrative and coordinator support to the BOA Athletes’ Commission
    • Ensure the BOA AC are strategically involved in wider BOA projects
    • Manage any relevant election process of the BOA AC Chair or its members


    Athlete Communications

    • Support the development of an engaging programme of comms for athletes as part of Team GB Connect.


    Games-related projects


    Games-Readiness Programme

    • Support the Athlete Services Manager to create an impactful education Games-readiness programme to aspiring and existing Olympians on the journey to Team GB sanctioned events.
    • Support the delivery of in-person workshops, as needed, in the lead-up to Team GB sanctioned events.


    Ambition Programme

    • Support preparations for the ‘Ambition Programme’, which is aimed at preparing aspiring athletes and coaches for their own journey with Team GB.
    • Support the logistics (travel, accommodation, kit, tickets) and planning learning experiences for athletes, including bespoke opportunities for coaches.


    Nearest & Dearest Programme

    • Support the Athlete Services Manager to design and deliver the ‘Nearest & Dearest (N&D) Programme’, ensuring that family and friends supporting Team GB athletes understand the requirements of the Games journey.
    • Oversee a network of National Governing Body leads, developing relationships with key providers of support/information for families (e.g. Accommodation and ticket provider).
    • Oversee the collation of information about the host city to create content for a private website/portal.
    • Preparation and delivery of Nearest & Dearest webinars online hub and other resources.
    • Support the Athlete Services Manager in the planning of Games-time delivery (N&D Lounges in host city) and working with the Commercial team to facilitate any Nearest and Dearest and athlete activations at Team GB House.


    Other responsibilities of the role

    • To support delivery of Commercial Partner objectives that link to the athlete support strategy objectives.


    Skills and Experience


    Essential:


    • Can demonstrate an understanding of the needs of elite athletes, their families, and athlete representatives.
    • Strong organisational skills
    • High‑quality administrative support
    • Ability to maintain accurate databases
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups (e.g., athletes, support staff, partners, internal teams)
    • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Can adapt to changing situations
    • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple internal teams
    • Exposure to athlete services, athlete engagement, or team operations within the Olympic Movement, NGBs, or elite sport environments


    Desirable:


    • Exposure to athlete services, athlete engagement, or team operations within the Olympic Movement, NGBs, or elite sport environments
    • Experience with digital platforms for athlete communication
    • Experience supporting the creation or delivery of workshops


    What We Offer


    • Salary for the role is £32,000 per year
    • 22 days of annual leave in increasing to 25 days after two years in the role
    • Additional time off over the festive season
    • Possibility to work 2 weeks a year remotely from anywhere (subject to time zone being appropriate)
