We are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Essex to appoint an ambitious and inspirational Head of Science for September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head of Science or a strong middle leader (e.g. Second in Science, Key Stage Lead) who is ready to step into a whole-department leadership role.
The successful candidate will lead a committed Science team and drive high standards of teaching and learning across KS3, KS4 and KS5. The school is seeking a leader with the vision and energy to build on current strengths and further raise outcomes across all key stages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership and management of the Science department
- Raising attainment and progress at GCSE and A Level
- Curriculum development across KS3–KS5
- Staff coaching, development and performance management
- Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all Science disciplines
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience as a Head of Science or be an ambitious middle leader ready to step up
- Be able to teach Science across KS3–KS5 (specialism open)
- Demonstrate a track record of improving outcomes
- Possess strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Be committed to high expectations and inclusive practice
