    Job description

Welcome to Highbury! Nestled in a popular and attractive area in London near Islington, and adjacent to Canonbury over ground station is our little GP Highbury clinic that has been a constant beating heart in the community for years.

This established practice is looking for a charismatic sole charge vet to charm our Highbury clients and their beloved pets, providing exceptional first opinion care on a 4-day week basis.

    About your new role!

Highbury has a strong bond with their clients, and we are looking for a vet who can continue this relationship in this GP role, performing first opinion consults and minor surgeries, with the triage of emergencies when applicable.

Highbury would be ideal for a confident vet happy in a sole charge position with a consult focused diary, who is looking for a long-term role they can settle in and play an integral part in the local community.

The rota involves Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, plus a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:8 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation, and up to 2 bank holiday's per year. You will be included in the last resort on-call rotation for the region...emphasis on last resort!

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:

    - Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.

    - Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.

    - Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.

    - Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.

    - Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.

    - Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

    - Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned

    - Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

As well as an exceptionally experienced support colleague, you will also be fully supported by a dedicated regional manager, and incredibly experienced regional head vet.

You will also have the addition of support from the nearby "mini hub" Hackney practice and Wanstead 24-hour Hospital, for more complex cases, surgeries and OOH care for your patients.

If you are new to the area, you will not be spoilt for stunning independent restaurants and pubs, in what is becoming one of the most sought after areas of London to live and work.

Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:

The salary band for this sole charge position is £60,000 to £75,000 FTE depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

A little snippet of the benefits you will receive as a Goddard vet:

    - 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays

    - Generous relocation assistance (where applicable)

    - Up to £2,000 CPD budget every year plus up to 5 days' paid CPD leave

    - Private Medical Healthcare Insurance with Bupa

If you can see yourself in this role press apply now, and within 60 seconds your application will be with our recruitment manager Rose.
