The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Head of Sales (UK) to join our lean, high-impact UK/EU regional office based in Sevenoaks, Kent. This is a senior commercial leadership role for a high-performing sales professional who combines strong B2B sales capability with genuine technical understanding of EV charging infrastructure, energy systems, and connected hardware.
Your customers are energy utilities, automotive OEMs, electrical wholesalers, and EVSE brand owners — organisations with sophisticated technical requirements. You need to speak their language, understand their infrastructure challenges, and hold credible conversations at both boardroom and engineering level.
Deep technical pre-sales — solution architecture, protocol-level specification, and tender engineering — will be handled by our Technical Solution Managers. However, you must be technically literate enough to lead qualification conversations, assess opportunity fit, understand product capabilities, and ensure the right solutions are proposed for each customer’s needs. If you don’t come from a deeply technical background, that’s fine — but you must be a fast learner who can quickly get up to speed on charging infrastructure, protocols, and the regulatory landscape.
This role balances two priorities: winning new business in a rapidly growing UK and European EV charging market, and deepening relationships with an established portfolio of strategic accounts. You will work closely with our UK leadership team, EU Commercial Director, and HQ sales organisation to drive both new customer acquisition and revenue expansion across the portfolio.
Job Details
Role: Head of Sales (UK)
Location: Remote, UK-based. Bonus if able to work from our Sevenoaks, Kent office at least two days per week.
Work Arrangement: Flexible / hybrid
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Development & Market Expansion
- Proactively identify, qualify, and convert new customer opportunities across the UK — targeting energy utilities, automotive OEMs, electrical wholesalers, and EVSE brand owners and manufacturers.
- Lead the commercial side of RFP and tender processes, coordinating technical input from Technical Solution Managers and margin approval from HQ.
- Operate a structured prospect scoring and qualification framework, ensuring sales effort is focused on high-volume, high-value opportunities.
- Collaborate with the EU Commercial Director on C-suite engagement and strategic account acquisition across managed manufacturing-as-a-service, V2G, and DC infrastructure opportunities.
2. Account Growth & Retention
- Work alongside the UK leadership team to manage and grow the existing UK account portfolio, ensuring strong retention, satisfaction, and commercial expansion.
- Run Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) across key accounts and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with strategic accounts, driving measurable revenue growth.
- Identify and execute upsell and cross-sell opportunities — including V2G-ready products, DC fast charging, software platform services, and managed service propositions.
3. Technically Informed Sales Leadership
- Lead qualification and discovery conversations with prospective customers, assessing technical fit, volume potential, and strategic alignment before engaging the Technical Solution Manager for detailed scoping and solution design.
- Understand the fundamentals of AC and DC charging architecture, OCPP, energy management, smart charging, V2G, and the regulatory landscape (e.g., PAS 1878/1879, AFIR, MID) well enough to have credible early-stage commercial conversations. Where gaps exist, you must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and apply that knowledge with confidence.
- Work with Technical Solution Managers, Commercial Director, and HQ sales team to shape proposals and tenders, owning the commercial terms while ensuring the technical solution meets the customer’s infrastructure and requirements.
4. Marketing, Brand & Market Intelligence
- Own the planning and execution of UK marketing initiatives in collaboration with the wider team — including events, thought leadership content, digital campaigns, and brand positioning activities that directly support pipeline generation and market visibility.
- Co-chair regular UK/EU sales alignment meetings with the UK leadership team, ensuring transparent pipeline visibility and coordinated account planning between the regional team and HQ sales organisation.
- Contribute market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer requirements back into the product and strategy teams.
What We’re Looking For
- Track Record of High Performance: We are looking for someone with a demonstrable history of exceeding targets and delivering outstanding results. You set a high bar for yourself and consistently outperform.
- Sales Leadership: Minimum 5 years in a senior B2B sales role, ideally in EV charging, energy infrastructure, power electronics, electrical distribution, or a related hardware/technology sector.
- Business Development Drive: Proven ability to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities in complex B2B environments — not just manage existing relationships.
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable discussing AC/DC charging, smart energy, OCPP, grid connection, and V2G concepts with technical stakeholders. You do not need to be an engineer, but you need to hold your own in rooms where infrastructure, protocols, and compliance are discussed.
- Fast Learner: If your background is not deeply technical, you must demonstrate the ability to learn complex technical domains quickly and apply that knowledge in commercial conversations.
- Account Management: Strong track record of growing enterprise accounts, with demonstrable revenue retention and expansion results — ideally within a collaborative team-selling environment.
- Commercial Process: Experience leading or contributing to complex B2B tenders, RFPs, and long-cycle enterprise sales in hardware or infrastructure markets.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the UK and European energy landscape — utilities, automotive OEMs, electrical distribution, EVSE brand ecosystem, and the EV charging value chain.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel across the UK and EU, and periodically to our headquarters in China.
- Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills.

- Competitive Package: Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with your expertise.
- Visa Sponsorship: Available for qualified candidates.
