    Job description

An innovative clean energy technology company is seeking an Ink Scientist to support the research and development of novel ceramic inks and printed components used within advanced cell technologies.

This role will focus on developing, optimising and qualifying ink formulations to improve consistency, performance and manufacturing quality, aligned with the company’s technical roadmap and product delivery objectives.

    The Ink Scientist will:

    • Develop and optimise novel ceramic ink formulations for use in advanced electrochemical cell technologies.
    • Improve ink consistency, rheology and print performance to enhance output quality and reproducibility.
    • Print and characterise functional ink layers for use in battery or solid oxide cell applications.
    • Conduct particle size analysis and rheological measurements to assess material behaviour.
    • Work with high-temperature sintering processes for ceramic materials.
    • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to align materials development with product milestones.

    The Ink Scientist will have:

    • BSc (with strong relevant experience), Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
    • Proven hands-on laboratory experience in ceramics, fuel cells, batteries, or adjacent electrochemical technologies.
    • Experience in ink formulation, slurry preparation or deposition processes.
    • Practical experience with screen printing or closely related layer deposition technologies.
    • Experience in particle size analysis and/or rheological measurement techniques.
    • Familiarity with high-temperature ceramic sintering processes.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly across teams.

This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking clean energy business developing next-generation materials technologies. The role offers hands-on R&D responsibility, technical ownership, and the chance to directly influence product performance and manufacturability.
