The business is a growing SME business dedicated to bespoke UK manufacturing based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Job Description
As a Head of Supply Chain you will report in to the Managing Director on a daily basis. This appointment will encompass full accountability for end-to-end supply chain performance and metrics. You will lead a close-knit team of managers and supervisors across purchasing, planning, SIOP, inventory control and logistics/shipping. The role will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Chesterfield office:
- Managing a close-knit team of managers and supervisors responsible for an end-to-end global supply chain of manufactured & finished goods distribution including forecasting, purchasing, planning, shipping etc.
- Lead the delivery of supply chain strategy with a strong focus on inventory optimisation and reduction of excess stock.
- Work with key functional stakeholders to design and implement strategic sourcing strategies that secure continuity of supply, drive cost efficiencies and mitigate risk. This includes negotiating contracts and long-term agreements with key suppliers, actively managing supplier performance through clearly defined KPIs, and maintaining strong commercial relationships. The postholder will need to align for changing in the global trends within the manufacturing sector and raw material purchasing.
- Oversee the team responsible for ensuring the full end-to-end delivery of all goods internationally. This includes all raw materials to our various production lines globally - alongside the shipping of finished manufactured goods - all through partner-shippers. This will include the strategic review & negotiation of shipping and managing carrier performance.
- Ensure compliance within global trade regulations and international customs requirements for all goods under a variety of different INCOTerms.
- Use digital tools (ERP, WMS) to help utilise data to drive continuous improvement within the supply chain, planning and warehousing teams.
- Optimise procurement and supplier partnerships across various areas of the business.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in supply chain and procurement operations within the manufacturing and distribution industries. The ideal Head of Supply Chain will have the following skills and experience:
- 5-10+ year's experience in supply chain management, purchasing, planning, SIOP and distribution / shipping.
- Experience managing this function within a manufacturing and/or distribution led operation
- Commutable to Chesterfield, Derbyshire
- A dynamic, forward-thinking leader with a proven track record in supply chain management.
- Strong leadership experience across planning, purchasing, and logistics & shipping functions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross‑functional partnership skills.
- A track record of reducing excess inventory and improving turnover would be hugely desirable for the postholder.
