One of our key clients — a highly respected Global Manufacturing Company operating across the UK & Ireland — is seeking an accomplished Head of Legal to oversee all legal, governance and compliance matters within the organisation as a Sole Counsel

The Role
As Head of Legal, you will be the primary legal adviser for the UK & Ireland business, responsible for:
- As a Sole Counsel you will provide strategic legal guidance to senior leaders across Sales, Operations, Finance, IT and Health & Safety.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements including:
- Equipment sales, rental and maintenance contracts
- Framework and supplier agreements
- Software and confidentiality agreements
- Construction and installation contracts (including JCT Design & Build)
- Leading legal input into tender processes and major bids.
- Managing compliance in areas such as governance, competition law, anti‑bribery & corruption, modern slavery, GDPR/data protection, health & safety and company secretarial duties.
- Managing disputes, including contractual issues, product liability, debt recovery and insolvency.
- Overseeing relationships with external legal advisers.
- Supporting business transformation projects and ensuring legal risk is identified early and effectively mitigated.
About You
You will be a confident, commercially minded legal leader with:
Essential Requirements
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent).
- Strong post‑qualification experience gained in‑house and/or private practice.
- A solid grounding in commercial law across complex contractual environments.
- Experience advising senior stakeholders in a multifaceted business.
- Industry exposure to engineering, logistics, construction, or capital equipment (advantageous).

- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal risk against business priorities.
- Collaborative and influential approach, able to work cross-functionally.
- High integrity and professionalism.
- Proven track record of managing external legal partners and controlling legal spend.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Package
- Salary: Up to £100,000
- Annual Bonus: Performance‑based
