    Job description

We have new opportunities for Landscape Planning professionals at Consultant, Senior and Principal level to join a 100% employee-owned practice delivering some of the UK’s most high-profile infrastructure, environmental and development projects.

From renewable energy (onshore & offshore wind, solar and battery storage) to carbon capture, data centres, coastal defence, urban regeneration, housing and major transport infrastructure - this is a chance to work on nationally significant schemes within a collaborative, design-led environment.

This is a practice that genuinely believes in the power of landscape and the brilliance of collective thinking. As an employee-owned business, everyone has a voice and shares responsibility in shaping the future of the company.

You can be based in any of the Bristol, Cambridge, Exeter, Glasgow, Manchester, Oxford or Peterborough offices, with flexible working arrangements available.

    The Role:

Opportunities are available across Consultant, Senior and Principal levels. Responsibilities will vary depending on experience, but may include:

    • Preparing and leading Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
    • Applying GLVIA3 and relevant Landscape Institute Technical Guidance Notes
    • Undertaking landscape character assessments and Green Belt assessments
    • Contributing to residential visual amenity assessments and landscape value appraisals
    • Supporting planning applications across various UK consenting regimes
    • Advising on designated landscapes and environmental constraints
    • Working closely within multidisciplinary teams
    • Managing projects and client relationships (Senior/Principal level)
    • Mentoring and supporting junior team members (Senior/Principal level)

    We’re Looking For:

    At Consultant level:

    • Experience in landscape planning work, ideally including LVIA exposure
    • Understanding of the UK planning system
    • Strong written communication skills
    • Consultancy experience preferred (2–4 years ideal, but strong junior candidates considered)
    • GIS, graphics software and/or AutoCAD experience desirable

    At Senior / Principal level:

    • Degree in Landscape Architecture and CMLI accreditation
    • Proven experience leading and authoring LVIAs
    • Strong understanding of UK planning legislation and policy
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary consultancy teams
    • Confidence managing projects and clients
    • GIS skills desirable
    • Expert witness experiences advantageous

Across all levels, we’re looking for people who are collaborative, motivated and passionate about applying environmental thinking to masterplanning and design.

    What’s on Offer:

    • 100% employee-owned practice
    • Flexible and hybrid working
    • Strong mentoring and structured career development
    • Opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure and development projects
    • Collaborative, values-led culture

    How to apply:

Send your CV and portfolio (including an LVIA example where possible) to ssidar@cobaltrecruitment.com
