Real Estate (Commercial Development & Investment) Associate | NQ to 2 PQE | Top-Tier International Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid
BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading international law firm that is looking to add a junior Commercial Development & Investment Associate (NQ-2 PQE) to its highly ranked Birmingham real estate team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on market-leading development and investment matters across the UK - from major logistics hubs to cutting-edge mixed-use schemes.
The Opportunity
Join a nationally recognised real estate practice at the forefront of complex, high-value transactions. You’ll be part of a collaborative and well-resourced team, working alongside experts in the field and advising blue-chip clients across a broad range of sectors, including logistics, office, industrial, and mixed-use.
Your role will include:
· Handling the acquisition and disposal of development land and investment assets (both leasehold and freehold), often with complex title and contract issues.
· Advising on pre-lets, development structures, and sale-and-leasebacks.
· Drafting and negotiating leases, transfers, agreements for lease, certificates of title, and other key documents.
· Running due diligence processes, including title reviews, searches, client reports, and completion formalities.
· Advising on development finance and investment funding structures.
· Collaborating with clients, surveyors, agents, and internal specialists to deliver high-quality, commercial outcomes.
· Participating in client events, training sessions, and BD initiatives, particularly in the logistics and industrial sectors.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
· NQ to 2 years PQE, with experience in commercial real estate, ideally with exposure to development or investment work.
· Technically strong, with a solid understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of real estate transactions.
· Commercially minded, with excellent drafting and client-handling skills.
· Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple matters with accuracy and professionalism.
· A team player who enjoys collaboration and building relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
· Keen to develop sector expertise and get involved in wider practice growth.
