THE ROLE
The Yard person’s role is key in providing the best possible customer experience to our clients and colleagues (Alltruckers) alike. Our yard at Nottingham is a hive of activity, we have drivers picking up trucks, companies bringing trucks in for servicing, MOTs, repairs, and maintenance work. We also have prospective customers arriving for sales meetings, suppliers turning up and important conferences held on site.
The role is to ensure that the yard is kept clean, tidy, safe and most of all productive. To ensure all vehicles are ready for our customers and to maintain and demand a high standard of cleanliness is no mean feat.
MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Carrying out the daily yard check
- Ensuring all vehicles are cleaned and valeted.
- Ensuring that all equipment (including ancillary equipment such as tail-lifts) are checked and in full working order on each vehicle.
- Ensure the yard is kept clean & tidy and all vehicles are accessible.
- Supporting the rental team with checking in & out rental vehicles.
- Reporting any defects in a timely manner.
- Managing customers attending the site in a professional and courteous manner, directing them to the correct location and person.
- Supporting with delivery of new and used vehicles.
- Ensure all vehicles are fuelled or de-fuelled according to how they’ve been sold.
- Deliver vehicles to dealer network.
TO SUCCEED, YOU WILL NEED:
- A full UK driving licence
- HGV Class C licence minimum, ideally a C+E licence. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Good verbal and numerical reasoning skills.
- The ability to keep calm under pressure.
- Confidence in your own abilities, being motivated and ability to use your initiative
- To be an efficient, neat, and disciplined administrator.
- Flexibility, being able to prioritise your own workload whilst supporting the team is key.
- To be responsive and willing to learn, receive training, developing both yourself and those around you.
- Excellent relationship skills with both colleagues and customers alike.
- An understanding of the value of delivering great service to suppliers, colleagues, and customers.
