    Job description

We are working with a client who are building out a dedicated product function and are looking for Product Owners who want to take real responsibility for software products used across the business.

The development teams are already in place. The shift now is moving from a traditional change and BA model to a product-led structure. This means clear ownership, structured backlogs and proper Agile delivery. No layers of handoffs and no guesswork. The end users and subject matter experts are in the office, so answers are there when you need them.

They are looking to hire multiple Product Owners who will report into an experienced Product Manager. The structure is being formed now, so this is an opportunity to join at the right time and help shape how product is done.

    The role

You will work directly with a software development squad and take ownership of the product backlog. You will spend time with engineers, operational teams and stakeholders to make sure what is being built solves real problems.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Owning and prioritising the product backlog
    • Writing and refining user stories that are clear and deliverable
    • Leading backlog refinement sessions and contributing to sprint planning and reviews
    • Taking an active role in Scrum ceremonies
    • Working closely with SMEs and end users to remove ambiguity
    • Making decisions based on business value and practical impact

This is not a documentation focused BA role. It is about ownership, clarity and driving delivery.

    Experience required:

    • A few years of experience working in an Agile Scrum software development environment
    • Experience working closely with developers and understanding how software is delivered
    • Confidence contributing to backlogs, sprint ceremonies and refinement sessions
    • A good understanding of how businesses operate across areas such as billing, settlements, reconciliation, customer support and complaints
    • Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge where needed
    • Enthusiasm to take ownership of a product and see it through

Only a small part of the domain is industry specific. A broad understanding of how customer facing or operational businesses work is just as valuable.

    This will suit someone who:

    • Takes responsibility rather than waiting to be told.
    • You are comfortable speaking with engineers and operational teams in the same day.
    • You would rather walk across the office to get the right answer than rely on assumptions.
    • You want to grow within product and build something properly.

If you are looking for a Product Owner role where you can make an impact and be part of building the function from the ground up, we would be keen to speak with you so get your application in today!
