How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Litigation Partner – Commercial Disputes

    The Role

William James Recruitment is instructed on a confidential Partner-level opportunity with a rapidly expanding international law firm, recognised for its market-leading litigation, white-collar defence and corporate advisory practices.

The firm is a full-service US law firm with offices across the United States and a recently launched London office established to meet increasing client demand. The London disputes practice focuses on high-value, complex matters and combines the depth, international reach and brand strength of a major US platform with the agility and autonomy of a boutique team.

The firm advises on sophisticated commercial litigation, civil fraud, white-collar matters, corporate investigations and cross-border disputes for a blue-chip international client base. The platform is deliberately open to a range of disputes specialisms and welcomes Partners with established practices across commercial litigation, civil fraud, white collar crime and related contentious areas, including niche or specialist practices that complement the existing offering.

This is an opportunity to join a genuinely entrepreneurial platform, offering autonomy, flexibility and the ability to build and scale a practice within a collaborative, high-calibre environment—without the conflicts, leverage pressures or structural constraints often associated with larger firms.

    Revenue Upside & Growth Narrative

    • London office is in active growth mode, with clear headcount and revenue expansion plans
    • Significant cross-referral opportunities from US offices and international client base
    • Ability to grow beyond existing book quickly, supported by firm-wide BD, marketing and infrastructure
    • Realistic scope to materially increase personal billings and profit share over the medium term
    • Platform designed to support Partners who want to build a meaningful, long-term disputes practice in London

    Compensation Structure

    • Base compensation: Healthy, competitive draw, typically aligned with what the Partner was earning at Senior Associate level
    • Client origination fees: percentage of revenue from work originated by the Partner, paid for the lifetime of the client relationship, regardless of whether you ultimately work on the matter
    • Discretionary bonus: Reflects individual and team performance, with ambition to reward Partners at the top of the market

    Why This Opportunity

    • Partner role within a premium US-firm platform in London
    • Genuine revenue upside and long-term growth potential
    • Opportunity to help shape and scale a growing London office
    • High-quality international work with reduced conflicts
    • Competitive Partner remuneration with base draw, lifetime origination fees, and discretionary bonus

    Benefits & How to Apply

    • Highly competitive Partner compensation structure
    • Flexible working arrangements
    • Entrepreneurial, growth-focused environment
    • Strong operational, BD and marketing support

Apply in the strictest confidence online or via telephone.
