    Job description

    Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional, values-driven Headteacher. This is a rare opportunity for a confident, compassionate and outward-facing leader to drive further improvement within a supportive and highly respected Trust.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • A vision of inclusive and transformative education.
    • Substantial experience of strategic leadership in a comprehensive school.
    • The people skills to retain and support our stable staff team.
    • A proven ability to develop our strategy to support our most disadvantaged learners.
    • An ability to develop and maintain strong, supportive relationships with sometimes ‘hard-to-reach’ families, dealing with concerns calmly and systematically.
    • An ability to plan strategically to maintain our position as a first-choice school locally, working with primary partners to ensure the school remains over-subscribed.
    • A familiarity with the OFSTED toolkit and its implications for schools serving areas with high economic disadvantage.
    • An openness to working with the Academy Trust and other external sources of challenge and support to continue to develop the school.
    • A determination to work with the wider Academy Trust, to support the development of the Trust and contribute to strategies developed within the Trust.

As an integral member of the King Edward VI Academy Trust and the wider King Edward VI Foundation, the successful appointee will fully embrace collaborative working across the Foundation, contributing to fulfilling our mission of making Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK.

    Visiting the Academy

We warmly encourage prospective candidates to visit the academy to meet the team, experience the culture and learn more about our vision for the future.

Visits can be arranged by contacting the school directly on 0121 464 8346 or via email at s.killeen@nsg.kevibham.org (Sharon Killeen - PA to the Headteacher).

Deadline for applications: 9.00am on 2nd March 2026

Interviews to be held 17th and 18th March 2026

The King Edward VI Academy Trust is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. The safeguarding responsibilities of the role are indicated in the candidate information.

    Salary:

    Head Group 5 (L24 – L31) £91,157 - £108,202
