    Job description

Residential Property Lawyer (NQ – Senior Level)

Location: St Albans (Office-based with 1 day per week WFH)

    Full-time | £45,000 – £65,000

A highly regarded, Legal 500-recognised regional law firm in Hertfordshire is seeking a Residential Property Lawyer to join its established Residential Property team in St Albans.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected full-service firm with a strong local reputation, high-quality client base and genuinely supportive working culture.

    The Firm

Recognised in the Legal 500, the firm is known for delivering high standards of client service across a broad range of practice areas. It combines professional excellence with a friendly, down-to-earth culture.

The St Albans office is modern and open plan, creating a collaborative environment where colleagues work closely across departments. The location is highly convenient—within easy reach of the station and town centre amenities.

    The Team & Support

The Residential Property department is well-structured and benefits from strong leadership and supervision. There is clear partner oversight alongside experienced fee earners within the team.

Lawyers are supported by dedicated administrative and secretarial staff, as well as post-completion assistance, ensuring fee earners can focus on delivering quality legal work and client care.

The culture within the team is positive and approachable. While residential conveyancing can involve demanding clients and fast-paced transactions, the working environment is supportive and collaborative.

    The Role

Managing a varied caseload of residential property matters, including:

    • Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
    • Re-mortgages
    • Transfers of equity
    • New build transactions
    • General residential conveyancing matters

The firm is open to candidates from NQ level through to senior lawyers. Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and Chartered Legal Executives.

This position is primarily office-based to encourage team integration and collaboration, with flexibility to work from home one day per week.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or Chartered Legal Executive
    • Experience handling residential conveyancing matters independently (or with appropriate supervision at NQ level)
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent client communication skills
    • A team-focused approach and willingness to be office-based

    Why Apply?

    • Legal 500-recognised firm with an excellent regional reputation
    • Salary £45,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
    • Strong partner support and clear supervision structure
    • Dedicated administrative and secretarial support
    • High-quality residential property work
    • Modern, central St Albans office location
    • 1 day per week home working
    • Friendly, collaborative and professional culture

This is an excellent opportunity for a residential property lawyer seeking stability, quality work and a genuinely supportive team environment within a respected regional firm.
