Milani Creations:
Milani Creations is a specialist design and fabrication company delivering exhibition stands, experiential activations, bespoke furniture, and branded environments across the UK and Europe. We manage projects from concept through to installation, with in-house capabilities covering CNC machining, joinery, welding, spray finishing, large-format printing, and full-scale pre-builds. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Technical Designer to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, technically robust design outputs across a wide range of creative, commercial, and live event projects.
Role:
In this role, you will bridge the gap between creative design and fabrication - transforming concepts into precise technical drawings, engineering practical build solutions, and supporting the workshop during production.
You will work across multiple projects simultaneously, from modular event structures and pop-up activations to custom furniture and interior installations, taking ownership of the technical approach from early stages through to on-site delivery.
You will work closely with our design, fabrication, and installation teams, ensuring every detail is engineered accurately, safely, and in alignment with design intent. This role requires a methodical, solution-led thinker with strong communication skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing accurate 3D models and technical drawings using Fusion 360 at various project stages.
- Creating clear and detailed fabrication drawings, assembly guides, exploded views, and CNC-ready 2D files.
- Engineering practical, safe, and cost-effective technical solutions aligned with creative and structural requirements.
- Preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and coordinating with the production team for material ordering and workflow planning.
- Liaising with the Head of Design, fabricators, CNC operators, and installers to resolve technical queries and ensure build feasibility.
- Supporting workshop fabrication by attending build reviews and ensuring final output reflects the approved technical design.
- Conducting site surveys, taking accurate measurements, and developing survey documentation.
- Producing installation, de-rig, and site instruction packs to support safe and organised delivery on site.
- Ensuring all drawings and specifications comply with industry standards, material limitations, and venue regulations.
- Supporting continuous improvements in drawing standards, modularity, fabrication efficiency, and internal technical processes.
Candidate Profile:
You will be a thorough, detail-focused designer with a strong understanding of fabrication and construction methods. You should feel comfortable working between the office, workshop, and site environments, and be able to collaborate effectively with multiple teams. A solution-led mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
You Will Have:
- A degree in Product Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in technical design within fabrication, events, exhibitions, joinery, or a similar environment.
- Strong proficiency in Fusion 360 or similar (SketchUp useful but not essential).
- Competency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and CNC preparation.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Understanding of sheet materials, joinery construction, metal fabrication, fixings, tolerances, and assembly logic.
- Ability to communicate clearly with designers, workshop teams, suppliers, and installers.
- Strong organisational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- A full UK driving licence (required for on-site surveys and installations).
- A positive, hands-on attitude with willingness to support across design, fabrication, and installation phases.
Preferable Additions:
(Not essential but advantageous)
- Experience in exhibition stands, event build, experiential activations, or similar fast-paced build environments.
- Understanding of modular systems or reconfigurable structures.
- Proficiency accross SketchUp and/or Adobe Suite.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- 28 days holiday ( including Bank Holidays )
- Pension contributions.
- IT equipment/ancillaries as required
- Skills & training opportunities
