An established structural steel specialist is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join their commercial team based in Keynsham. This is a great opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of commercial and industrial steelwork projects within a well-established business.
The Role
As a Structural Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for structural steel fabrication and erection packages. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure bids are commercially robust and technically compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- 📐 Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection
- 📄 Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- 🔩 Carry out material take-offs and labour assessments
- 📊 Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- 💰 Build up rates and pricing in line with current market conditions
- ⚠️ Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- 🤝 Liaise with clients, engineers, and internal teams during tender stages
- 🔄 Support project handover to the contracts team
About You
- ✅ Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator
- 🏗️ Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes
- 📘 Confident reading and interpreting structural drawings and specifications
- 📈 Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- 🗣️ Strong communication and organisational skills
- 💻 Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
