    Job description

    Recovery Support Worker - £12.60 per hour - Burnley, BB11 1UG

Do you want a role where you are paid fairly for every hour you work, including double time on key bank holidays? Are you looking for secure hours, funded qualifications and real progression in a service where your experience in mental health is genuinely valued?

Making Space is a values-led charity supporting people across the community — and we are recruiting Recovery Support Workers for our Rehabilitation Supported Living Service in Burnley.

    The role

    Contracts available: 2 x 28 hours and 4 x 35 hours per week

Shifts: 4 or 5 days per week, between 8am and 10pm, including some weekends

You will join our Lancashire Supported Living Rehabilitation Service, Inspiring Minds. The service has 9 beds and provides short-term rehabilitation support to adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities and people on the autistic spectrum.

You will support people to build skills, manage their wellbeing and move towards greater independence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide person-centred support tailored to individual needs
    • Support with daily living skills, cooking and domestic tasks
    • Encourage access to the community, education or employment
    • Offer calm and practical support during periods of distress or crisis
    • Work closely with colleagues to promote recovery
    • Maintain clear and accurate records

    About our company

Making Space is guided by five core values: Kind Hearts, Tailor Making, Dreaming Big, Having Courage and Being Ready.

We focus on empathy, individuality and practical support. Our aim is simple — to help people live full and active lives within their communities.

    The Benefits

We believe that when you feel supported, you can do your best work. That is why we offer:

    • Clear, reliable pay for every shift you work
    • Double pay on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day – real recognition for working at key times
    • Up to 28 days’ holiday (pro rata) – proper time to rest and recharge
    • Pension with 3% employer contribution – helping you plan for your future
    • Paid sick leave – financial reassurance if you are unwell
    • Access to 30% of your earned wages through Stream – flexibility if unexpected costs arise
    • Funded qualifications from Level 2 to Level 6 – build your skills and increase your career options
    • Strong internal progression – many of our senior roles are filled by existing colleagues
    • Cycle to work and Electric Car Scheme, plus 45p per mile expenses – reduce the cost of getting to work
    • Health and lifestyle discounts – everyday savings that make a difference
    • All roles are subject to DBS and reference checks. You must have the right to work in the UK.

    The person

    You will need:

    • Experience in a mental health setting — essential
    • Experience supporting individuals who self-harm — highly desirable
    • The ability to stay calm and reassuring during crisis
    • A patient, respectful and practical approach
    • Values that reflect those of Making Space

    What’s next
