    Job description

Speech & Language Therapist – Neurological Rehabilitation

    Location: Leicester

    Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent

    About the Role

We are partnering with a highly respected neurological rehabilitation provider offering specialist, person‑centred support to individuals with complex needs, acquired brain injury, neurological conditions, and cognitive‑communication difficulties. Their model is built on expert clinical assessment, evidence‑based therapy, and a collaborative multidisciplinary approach designed to maximise independence, participation, and quality of life.

You’ll be part of a dedicated MDT (OT, Physio, Psychology, Nursing, Rehab Support Workers) working within structured therapy environments where communication, cognition, swallowing safety and functional recovery are core to the rehabilitation journey.

    The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech & Language Therapist to join this specialist rehabilitation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT who thrives in neuro‑rehab settings, values partnership working, and wants to make a meaningful impact on communication and swallowing outcomes.

You will manage your own caseload, carry out specialist assessments, develop individualised therapy plans, contribute to MDT‑wide rehabilitation goals, and be actively involved in risk‑management, discharge planning, and clinical development initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assess, diagnose and treat communication, cognitive‑communication and swallowing disorders for adults with neurological and complex rehab needs.
    • Manage a defined caseload, prioritising clinical need and service pathways.
    • Develop and review individual, goal‑oriented therapy plans aligned with MDT rehabilitation objectives.
    • Deliver evidence‑based interventions, including dysphagia assessment and management.
    • Communicate clinical findings sensitively to patients, families and professionals.
    • Work collaboratively within the MDT and advocate for individuals with communication needs.
    • Maintain high‑quality, legally compliant documentation and uphold confidentiality at all times.
    • Participate in audits, governance activities, clinical supervision and ongoing service improvement.

    Person Specification

    Essential

    • Degree or Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy, HCPC registration, RCSLT membership.
    • Experience managing a caseload of individuals with communication and/or swallowing needs.
    • Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and intervention skills.
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex information clearly.
    • Competence in safe, evidence‑based SLT practice including dysphagia management.
    • Professional, compassionate, reflective and calm under pressure.

    Desirable

    • Postgraduate dysphagia training or AAC experience.
    • Experience in neuro‑rehab, brain injury or complex‑care settings.
    • Participation in service development or audit.

    Why This Role Is Rewarding

You will directly contribute to life‑changing rehabilitation outcomes, helping individuals:

    • Regain communication confidence
    • Improve swallowing safety
    • Participate more fully in daily routines, relationships, and meaningful activities
    • Progress through structured recovery pathways

Maximise independence and quality of life.

This is a chance to work with a forward‑thinking neuro‑rehab provider who values innovation, partnership, compassion and evidence‑based practice—principles also reflected in their core values of Hope, Recovery, Empowerment and Excellence.
