Fibre Passive Designer | Smart Building Specialist | South London
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 | Hybrid (3 days a week in the office)
Our client is a premier smart building and connectivity specialist, architecting the digital nervous systems for the most iconic 48-story commercial developments in the UK. They are looking for a detailed, hardworking Network Passive Designer to own the Layer 1 infrastructure for high-profile projects. This is a high-growth environment offering direct mentorship from a lead Network Architect and the autonomy to manage flagship builds.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed blueprints for fibre and copper (Cat5, Cat6, OM4) cabling paths.
- Design unpowered cabinet layouts and optimise communication room infrastructure.
- Manage complex patch schedules and produce technical submittals and hardware data sheets.
- Calculate signal budgets and attenuation for Passive Optical Networks (PON).
- Produce meticulous as-built drawings and documentation for maintenance and future expansion.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of cable runs and layer 1 infrastructure design (Copper, fibre OLT/OLM, patch panels)
- Proven experience in cabinet design and managing complex patching schedules.
- Basic networking knowledge to understand switch stack requirements.
- Background in network engineering or structured cabling
The Process:
- Stage 1: A meeting with the Project Manager to discuss technical baseline and business fit.
- Stage 2: A final conversation with the lead Architect and leadership team focusing on character and career goals.
