    Dispensing Optician – Private Independent Opticians

    Location: Croydon

    Salary: £33,000 – £37,000 DOE

    Employment Type: Full time – Monday to Saturday (1 Saturday off per month), no Sunday work

    Compass Associates are proud to be a working on behalf of a well-established, patient-focused independent optical practice in Croydon who are looking to hire a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician to join their friendly and professional team.

    The Role


    As Dispensing Optician, you’ll play a key part in the patient journey, acting as the vital link between the consulting room and the dispensing process. You’ll provide expert advice, deliver a premium experience, and ensure every patient leaves with the best possible solution for their lifestyle and

    visual needs.



    Key Responsibilities


    • Deliver outstanding customer service with a warm, professional approach
    • Support the three-way handover between the Optometrist and patient
    • Guide patients through frame and lens selection with confidence
    • Take accurate measurements (including use of digital tools where required)
    • Ensure orders are processed smoothly and liaise with suppliers when needed
    • Carry out quality checks, fitting and adjustments to ensure comfort and accuracy
    • Complete admin and clinical record keeping to a high standard (GDPR compliant)
    • Handle transactions accurately and in line with practice procedures
    • Support and supervise Dispensing Assistants, offering training where needed
    • Assist with minor repairs (spectacles/hearing devices)
    • Resolve patient queries professionally, escalating when appropriate
    • Maintain excellent standards of presentation in both personal appearance and practice environment
    • Keep up to date with products, clinical techniques and CPD/GOC requirements



    Requirements


    • Previous spectacle dispensing experience is essential
    • Level 6 Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing (or equivalent)
    • Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset
    • Confident using IT systems and strong organisational ability
    • Positive, adaptable, and keen to develop in a role that continues to evolve
