    Job Title: Social Worker / Approved Mental Health Practitioner

    We are seeking an enthusiastic Social Worker / Approved Mental Health Practitioner to join the Children’s Specialist Services Team in the vibrant borough of Wandsworth.     What you will do:

    • Act as the lead professional on specialist statutory cases, including Child Protection, Care Proceedings, and Looked After Children.
    • Undertake comprehensive social work responsibilities for children in need and their families, following the APIR framework.
    • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective safeguarding and child-centred planning.
    • Build strong partnerships with allied health professionals and social care practitioners across children’s and adults’ services.
    • Work collaboratively with schools, children’s centres, and community settings.
    • Embed evidence-based practice into day-to-day service delivery.
    • Engage positively in supervision, annual appraisal, audits, and peer review processes.
    • Support team development by contributing to improvement plans and sharing good practice.
    • Develop expertise in managing key risks affecting child welfare.
    • Engage preventative and targeted family support services, including voluntary sector partners.
    • Maintain accurate electronic case records in line with the Integrated Children’s System.
    • Promote the participation of children, young people, and families in decision-making.
    • Uphold equality and diversity principles in all aspects of practice.
    • Contribute ideas to improve service efficiency, effectiveness, and policy development.


    Experience:

    • Experience delivering statutory social work services within children’s services.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively across voluntary and statutory agencies.
    • Effective use of supervision and appraisal to enhance professional practice.


    Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or an equivalent qualification recognised for UK registration.
    • Registration with Social Work England is essential.
