Vacaturebeschrijving

At Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, we are looking for a passionate and hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our Food & Drink team, with responsibility across Peacock Alley and Goldfinch Brasserie.

Together with the Venue Manager and fellow Assistant Restaurant Managers, you will lead the daily operations of both venues, offering a dynamic and diverse Food & Drink experience. From our renowned Afternoon Tea in Peacock Alley to breakfast and all-day dining in Goldfinch Brasserie, as well as seasonal concepts and themed brunches, no two days are quite the same.

This is a varied and exciting role where you will work across different styles of service, create memorable experiences for our guests, and inspire and develop the team around you.

What will you be doing?

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will be visible on the floor and lead by example. You will support the Venue Manager in maintaining the highest standards of service while ensuring a smooth and efficient daily operation across both venues.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating, coaching and developing our Food & Drink team.

  • Overseeing the daily operations of Peacock Alley and Goldfinch Brasserie.

  • Ensuring Waldorf Astoria service standards are consistently delivered.

  • Creating memorable and personalised experiences for our guests.

  • Taking ownership of guest feedback and resolving challenges with genuine care.

  • Conducting daily briefings and ensuring clear communication within the team and across hotel departments.

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training and the ongoing development of Team Members.

  • Preparing efficient schedules based on business levels, forecasts and operational needs.

  • Driving revenue through product knowledge, recommendations and upselling while always keeping the guest experience at the heart of what we do.

  • Supporting cost control, inventory management and the overall profitability of the venues.

  • Monitoring guest satisfaction and identifying opportunities to continuously improve our service and operation.

  • Ensuring all areas meet our standards for presentation, cleanliness, hygiene, health and safety.

  • Working closely with the Culinary team and other hotel departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys being part of the operation and thrives in a dynamic environment where every day brings something different.

You are a natural and approachable leader who knows how to bring people together and create an environment where both guests and Team Members feel valued.

You bring:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within Food & Drink, preferably within luxury hospitality.

  • A hands-on leadership style and strong presence on the floor.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

  • The ability to coach, motivate and develop a diverse team.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.

  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of revenue, costs and labour management.

  • The ability to remain calm, positive and solution-focused during busy periods.

  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.

  • Flexibility to work across both venues according to the needs of the operation.

Most importantly, you are someone who leads by example, takes ownership and enjoys achieving results together as one team.

If you are looking for a role that combines luxury hospitality, diverse dining experiences, leadership and plenty of variety, Peacock Alley and Goldfinch Brasserie offer an exciting environment in which to grow, contribute and make a difference every day.
