THERMELEON | Towards a climate-neutral greenhouse horticulture sector
Do you want to use physics and Python to uncover the thermal and energy secrets hidden in real greenhouse data? Our product — the Thermeleon Heat Battery — is an innovative day-night buffer for greenhouses. It improves the energy efficiency of greenhouses by strategically reusing surplus heat during the day-night cycle, substantially reducing natural gas usage and improving climate uniformity across the greenhouse.
As a Data Analysis Intern, you will dive into large, multi-source greenhouse datasets to uncover thermal, energy, and climate insights that directly support how we prove and improve the impact of our technology. You'll work closely with the technical team, analyzing data from measurement setups at real client greenhouses.

- Analyze large, multi-source greenhouse datasets to uncover thermal, energy, and climate insights (60%)
- Study heat flux behavior, temperature cycles, and environmental interactions across greenhouse systems
- Generate comparative insights across multiple client sites, both before and after demo installations
- Quantify the impact of the Thermeleon Heat Battery to support evidence-based decision-making for clients and internal teams
- Help develop a scalable data-analysis framework that can be applied to new clients and evolving datasets (40%)
- Contribute to tooling and methods that streamline future analyses and support consistent, repeatable insight generation
- Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues
Vereisten
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Physics knowledge is a must — you understand heat transfer, energy balances, and thermal systems
- Python is a must — comfortable working with data analysis libraries (e.g. Pandas, NumPy)
- You are currently studying towards a technical degree (e.g. Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar), or in a comparable stage of your studies
- You're analytical and curious, and enjoy digging into messy, real-world datasets to find patterns
- You can structure ambiguous problems and think about scalable, repeatable solutions rather than one-off answers
- Affinity with sustainable innovation and hardware is a plus
- Experience with data visualization or greenhouse/climate systems is a pré, not a requirement
- Minimum of 24 hours a week

Thermeleon bestaat uit een enthousiast en gevarieerd team dat is gedreven door een duurzame ideologie en een passie voor de glastuinbouw. Momenteel bevinden we ons in de startup-fase, waarbij de metingen bij de klant in een high-tech kas in volle gang zijn. Om te blijven leren (van elkaar), organiseren we elke vrijdag een 'Therming Sessie' om kennis te delen en de week af te sluiten.
We zijn onderdeel van het duurzame-startup innovatieprogramma van de Europese Unie (Climate-KIC) en ontvangen ook subsidie van het NWO-domein Toegepaste en Technische Wetenschappen (TTW) in samenwerking met de TU Delft.
