We're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Floor Supervisor who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional standards. Leading by example, you'll coach and support our housekeeping team, maintain impeccable cleanliness throughout the hotel, and ensure every guest enjoys a seamless, comfortable stay.
Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, part of the Dalata Hotel Group, is a 4-star, 173-room hotel nestled in one of the most beautiful art nouveau buildings in the Netherlands. Home to the legendary Café Americain and Bar Americain, , you'll play a key role in maintaining the quality, presentation, safety, and service standards that make our historic hotel unique.
Objective of the Role
As Senior Floor Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the Housekeeping department, ensuring agreed standards of cleanliness and presentation are consistently achieved to maximise both guest and employee satisfaction.
You'll oversee daily inspections of guest rooms and public areas, coach and coordinate up to 10 Room Attendants and 2 Floor Supervisors (daily), communicate closely with Front Office and Engineering regarding room status and maintenance issues, and contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Inspire the Team
- Coach Room Attendants and Supervisors to maximise guest satisfaction.
- Train new employees in company expectations and procedures.
- Conduct Periodic Evaluation Talks with Room Attendants.
- Create a positive environment in which all employees have the ability to maximise their potential.
- Work as a team, helping all employees complete the required activities that ensure we deliver high-quality service & productivity.
- Participate in meetings on each shift, including Housekeeping and overall hotel morning meetings.
Deliver Exceptional Housekeeping Standards
- Inspect guest rooms & public areas according to company standards.
- Monitor operations to ensure the correct sequence of service is consistently followed and all brand standards are properly executed.
- Ensure the proper handling, maintenance, storage, and security of all department equipment & supplies.
Manage Daily Operations
- Balance staffing levels to achieve the ideal employee and guest engagement while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Weekly ordering of guest amenities and cleaning supplies according to set budgets.
- Complete monthly inventories of all supplies.
- Coordinate operations with other departments as needed.
Put Guests First
- Maintain awareness of guests in corridors by greeting them warmly, using names when known, moving carts to allow guests to pass, and turning off vacuum cleaners when guests are present.
- Be knowledgeable about the hotel's facilities, services, operating hours, in-house events, conferences, and amenities to proactively assist guests.
- Resolve guest complaints using hotel procedures.
- Review and develop guest history records to enhance personalised service for repeat guests and VIPs.
Drive Professional Standards
- Know, understand, and practice the hotel's mission, values, mottos, culture, and spirit with energy and enthusiasm.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information.
- Perform duties in accordance with company standards, policies, guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
Prioritise Safety & Compliance
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for employees and guests.
- Fulfil all obligations under Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Carry out Health & Safety training and refresher training with team members.
- Successfully complete Duty Manager and BHV (First Aid & Fire Warden) training.

We're looking for an experienced housekeeping professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences. Here’s what makes a great fit:
- 4+ years' experience in hospitality management, preferably within housekeeping operations
- Luxury hotel experience is highly desirable
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, or equivalent experience
- Thorough knowledge of housekeeping operations and hotel cleanliness standards
- Experience coaching, developing and motivating teams
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable using computers and completing administrative tasks
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English (additional languages are an advantage)
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to deal professionally with guests and colleagues
- Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push and carry equipment throughout the shift
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays when required
- Understanding of lifestyle hotels and exceptional guest service
