What Does a Junior Soil Consultant Do?
Due to a growing portfolio, the Environmental & Energy department of our client is looking for entrepreneurial junior soil consultants. Your tasks are diverse and include conducting historical soil research, preparing fieldwork, analyzing, and advising on the results of the soil investigation you oversee. You will have frequent contact with colleagues, both within and outside the organization, as well as with clients. Depending on your ambitions, there are numerous growth opportunities.
Things You Enjoy Doing:
- Preparing, supervising, and evaluating soil investigations;
- Collaborating with colleagues working on soil research and soil policies;
- Researching, advising, organizing, and implementing projects;
- Utilizing state-of-the-art techniques such as sensing, software, and big data;
- Working for both governmental bodies and private businesses.
To develop into an independent and professional soil consultant, you will follow a structured training program during your first year, combining hands-on learning with in-depth content development. You will receive personal guidance from an experienced mentor, with set development and evaluation moments at 1, 3, 6, and 9 months to actively track and ensure your growth. Additionally, you will participate in the soil consultant training program, featuring various knowledge sessions, including:
- Historical soil research;
- Fieldwork and interpretation;
- Digitalization and data-driven work;
- Material properties;
- Working with QGIS;
- Using AI.
- A completed higher vocational education/university degree, preferably in Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Spatial Development, Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, or similar;
- An interest in the field of soil (more important than your educational background);
- Collegial, involved, and a team player;
- Good communication skills (at least Dutch B2 level), both written and spoken;
- Structured and organized;
- Available for 32 to 40 hours per week.
