System Innovation (SI) is part of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Innovation Management and System Enablement (IM&SE) at NXP. The SI group serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Business Lines, GSM, and customers, driving forward-looking system and application innovations across NXP. The team develops tangible system and application proof‑of‑concepts to showcase NXP’s capabilities, anticipates future technology trends, and translates insights into input for BL roadmaps. SI cultivates partnerships across customers and the ecosystem—including universities, research institutes, and collaborative project consortia—to accelerate new business development and cross‑portfolio solutions that highlight NXP’s strengths.
Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: provide system-level direction from concept creation and system architecture to hardware realization, embedded software, system integration, and validation; lead technical decision‑making across radar sensing, RF front‑end, signal processing, embedded software, and system integration; mentor engineers and act as a key technical interface to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Radar System Development: define radar system requirements, performance budgets, and technical specifications; perform architecture trade‑offs for RF performance, antennas, signal processing, compute, power, and cost; lead development of advanced FMCW radar sensing solutions including calibration, diagnostics, interference mitigation, and performance optimization; define validation approaches and metrics from simulation to vehicle‑level testing; support technology roadmaps for future radar and sensing platforms.
- System Integration & Validation: drive end‑to‑end integration from silicon and RF subsystems to complete radar applications; define and execute laboratory, vehicle, and customer validation activities; develop innovative test methodologies, measurement setups, and automation frameworks; support root‑cause analysis and resolution of complex system‑level issues.
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in radar systems, RF systems, ADAS sensing, or related high‑performance embedded systems.
- Proven track record defining and delivering complex system architectures from concept through production.
- Strong expertise in FMCW radar systems and radar signal processing.
- Deep understanding of RF systems, antennas, and radar front‑end architectures.
- Extensive experience in algorithm development, simulation, implementation, and system validation.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C and/or C++.
- Experience working across hardware, software, and algorithm development disciplines.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with a hands‑on engineering mindset.
- Experience with automotive radar products operating in the 77GHz and 79GHz bands.
- Knowledge of radar SoCs, radar transceivers, and embedded radar processing architectures.
- Experience with antenna concepts, antenna matching, and RF characterization.
- Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and automotive development processes.
- Experience with machine‑learning‑assisted sensing applications.
- Experience implementing DSP algorithms on embedded processors, DSP cores, FPGA platforms, or hardware accelerators.
- Experience in low‑power system architecture and system‑level optimization.
- Strong background in laboratory characterization, measurement automation, and custom test‑tool development.
- Demonstrated innovation through patents, publications, or significant technical contributions.
- Ability to translate innovative ideas into working products.
- Strong cross‑functional leadership and influence without formal authority.
- Capability to bridge algorithm, software, hardware, RF, and system engineering domains.
- Excellence in coordinating across geographically distributed teams.

The position requires on‑site work at the NXP Eindhoven office, minimum 3 days per week.
