At Enviu we're looking for a Intern to join our AgriFood team.
Full-time • Enviu The Netherlands
Hi! We're Enviu.
We believe in an inclusive economy that serves people and planet. We build ventures that address social and environmental issues hands-on, and drive market development. But if we could do this on our own we would not be dreaming big enough. We have a large and varying network of entrepreneurs, experts, philanthropists, and enthusiasts who we team up with. We're looking for a passionate, proactive, and impact-driven Intern to join our team in the Netherlands.
The role
You'll be joining Rooted, one of our ventures in the AgriFood space. Rooted works to connect buyers of agricultural produce with regenerative smallholder farmers, creating stable, sustainable supply chains where farmers earn fair income and buyers have credible, measurable proof that their supply is regeneratively produced.
The challenge: how do we make regenerative farming practices measurable and scalable at the smallholder level? Satellite imagery and remote sensing play a crucial role here: they can help us assess regenerative practices like soil health, biodiversity, climate resilience, and input reduction across farm plots in a cost-effective and consistent way.
As our Satellite Imagery & Regenerative Agriculture Intern, you'll work hands-on with our internal team and a network of external partners (farmers, universities, remote sensing specialists) to:
- Develop and test methods to assess regenerative farming practices using satellite imagery and remote sensing data
- Determine which regenerative indicators can be reliably estimated from satellite data, and which require field-level or farmer-reported input
- Translate these assessments into a farm-level score that is meaningful and actionable for buyers
- Validate the approach with regenerative smallholder farmers and ecosystem partners
This is real venture-building work: your analysis directly shapes how we connect buyers with regeneratively-farmed produce and how smallholder farmers access stable, fair income.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a passionate master's student to join our team as a work placement intern (meewerkstage, not a graduation thesis). Someone who is excited about the intersection of regenerative agriculture and technology, who wants to contribute hands-on to a real venture, and who has:
Required:
- Hands-on experience working with satellite imagery and remote sensing data (e.g. Sentinel, Google Earth Engine, Landsat, or similar platforms). This is essential - we're counting on you to bring real expertise here, as we're still building our own internal capacity.
- A background in agronomy or a related agricultural science (degree or equivalent practical experience)
- Familiarity with regenerative agriculture principles and practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, mission-driven team
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills
- Availability to commit to a minimum of one semester for 32-40 hours a week.
- The ability to join us for at least 3 days per week at our Rotterdam office
- Familiarity with smallholder farmer contexts and production realities
- Affinity with sustainability and impact-driven ventures
- Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) or geospatial analysis
- A monthly internship allowance of 350 EUR/month.
- Real-world impact: Your work directly supports sustainable sourcing for agricultural buyers and fair income for regenerative smallholder farmers
- Learn at scale: Work with cutting-edge satellite technology and regenerative agriculture frameworks in a live venture
- Diverse team: Collaborate with our Enviu community across AgriFood, sustainability, and impact measurement
- Support for your growth: Mentorship from experienced venture builders and domain experts (Wageningen University researchers, remote sensing specialists, field partners)
- Flexible, inclusive culture: We work hybrid and respect your background and needs
- A fun and vibrant office located on the Pannekoekstraat in downtown Rotterdam.
- Start ASAP: Join us as soon as possible, we're building momentum and ready to bring you on board
Do you want to join our team as our new Intern? Then we'd love to hear about you!
Please submit your application by August 1st, 2026, but preferably as soon as possible: if we find the right match, we won't wait!
Enviu loves diversity. Different perspectives, backgrounds and insights increase our thought process and improve the outcome. It doesn't matter where you were born, what you believe in, how old you are and who you love. We are only curious about your drive and motivation to contribute to Enviu and its impact ambitions. You are not obliged to state your date of birth and gender in your CV and application form.
