Advocate of asylum seekers and refugees. The AZC Schalkhaar is a reception center where asylum seekers stay awaiting a final decision by the government on their asylum application. In addition, refugees who have just received a residence permit and are awaiting independent accommodation reside here. The voluntary employees of the Eastern Netherlands Council for Refugees provide legal guidance at this center and represent the interests of residents across the board. They also supervise family reunification procedures.
Responsibilities- Act as an intermediary between clients and legal professionals, IND, and other authorities.
- Provide explanations and information about the status of clients’ procedures.
- Discuss future prospects with clients.
- Guide clients through the asylum process.
- Represent residents’ interests across the board.
- Supervise family reunification procedures.
- Participate in special training courses offered by the Dutch Council for Refugees.
- Excellent social and conversational skills.
- Strong personality capable of dealing with clients in difficult circumstances.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Interest in the asylum procedure.
- Willingness to follow VWON training program and additional training courses.
- Availability for at least eight hours per week.
