About the RoleAs DC Training Specialist, you will own the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of operational training and certification programmes across the Almelo Distribution Center. You will ensure that every associate, from new joiners to experienced operators, has the knowledge, skills, and certifications they need to perform safely, compliantly, and effectively.
Working at the intersection of operations and people development, you will lead the DC training team, partner closely with the Compliance Specialist, and work across Operations and HR to translate SOPs, audit findings, and business priorities into practical training that builds real capability on the floor. Your work will directly influence operational performance, audit readiness, and the long‑term strength of the site.
How You Will Make a Difference- Lead and manage the DC training team, ensuring consistent execution of training standards across shifts and departments
- Create a structured, reliable training operation that supports the site during peak periods, audits and periods of change
- Design, develop and deliver operational training programmes aligned with approved SOPs, compliance requirements and business objectives
- Ensure onboarding, refresher and peak‑readiness programmes prepare and certify associates before they operate independently
- Maintain training materials, manuals and e‑learning content in line with current SOPs and compliance standards, ensuring accuracy, version control and usability on the floor
- Partner closely with the Compliance Specialist to translate compliance requirements, audit findings and CAPAs into targeted training and re‑certification plans
- Review certification outcomes, identify recurring gaps and ensure training embeds the right behaviours, not just completion
- Assess training needs using operational KPIs, audit results, compliance insights and stakeholder feedback
- Measure training effectiveness and certification outcomes, reporting regularly to DC leadership and driving continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate training records and certification documentation to support audits and ongoing compliance
- Actively support audit preparation activities, including evidence provision and walkthroughs
- Every associate completes onboarding and role‑specific training on schedule and is fully certified before operating independently
- Training completion and certification rates remain consistently high, with no critical compliance or audit gaps
- SOP updates, audit findings and CAPAs are quickly reflected in training content, with verified embedding through re‑certification
- The DC training team operates with consistency and reliability across all shifts and departments
- DC leadership has clear visibility on training coverage, effectiveness and outstanding risks through structured reporting
- A visible culture of continuous operational learning is established, with associates and Team Leaders taking ownership of their development
- MBO or HBO degree (or equivalent) in Learning & Development, Operations, Logistics, Education or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in training, learning & development or instructional design, preferably in an operational or logistics environment
- Proven experience managing or coordinating training programmes in a distribution centre or corporate operational setting
- Strong understanding of SOP‑based training, standard work and operational certification processes
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e‑learning platforms, with solid knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles
- Strong communication and presentation skills, able to engage diverse operational audiences
- Strong organisational and project management skills in a fast‑paced environment
- Analytical mindset with the ability to measure, report on and improve training effectiveness
- Collaborative working style, building strong relationships with Operations, Compliance and HR
- Experience with time‑based operational metrics (e.g. TACT time) is a plus
This is a role with genuine ownership in one of VF’s key European distribution centres. You will directly influence safety, compliance and operational performance, while working closely with teams across the entire site, from the shop floor to DC leadership.
