Our Team, Your ImpactThe Associate Director – Strategic Sourcing ‘Core / Agile’ defines and leads sourcing strategies across the External Manufacturing (EXM) Generics portfolio, aligning with category management and core/agile EXM organizations. The role delivers enterprise value through strategic supplier selection, commercial optimization, and disciplined sourcing practices. Reporting to the Senior Director – Strategic Sourcing Core / Agile Lead, you influence senior stakeholders and own the translation of business needs into sourcing approaches, ensuring sustainable value, risk mitigation, and supplier performance.
How You’ll Spend Your Day- Define and lead sourcing strategies aligned with business priorities
- Own end‑to‑end sourcing (opportunity identification, strategy, RFx execution, negotiation, supplier selection)
- Translate business needs and market insights into optimized sourcing approaches (cost, quality, service, risk)
- Align senior stakeholders on strategies and decisions
- Lead complex supplier negotiations (pricing, capacity, long‑term agreements)
- Maximize value and mitigate risk through strong negotiation strategies
- Oversee contract development and execution in partnership with Legal
- Proactively manage commercial and contractual risks
- Accountable for achieving annual value targets aligned with Finance
- Ensure tracking and visibility of sourcing performance
- Report outcomes and key decisions to leadership
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of supplier markets and dynamics
- Define supplier strategies (selection, consolidation, preferred suppliers)
- Engage senior supplier stakeholders to drive performance and value creation
- Partner with SRM on supplier performance and governance
- Provide expertise in supplier economics (cost structures, should‑costing)
- Identify and mitigate sourcing risks (supply continuity, capacity constraints, commercial exposure)
- Ensure alignment with quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements
- Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing on risk‑balanced decisions
- Act as trusted advisor to EXM, Category Management, and cross‑functional teams
- Influence and align senior stakeholders
- Enable cross‑functional collaboration (Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Legal)
- Represent Procurement in strategic EXM forums
- Coach and support sourcing professionals (indirect leadership)
- Drive best practices, tools, and consistency in sourcing
- Contribute to capability building (playbooks, training, knowledge sharing)
- Improve sourcing efficiency and scalability
- Drive adoption of tools and data‑driven decision‑making
- Support procurement transformation and EXM sourcing maturity
- Significant experience in strategic sourcing and contracting, including defining sourcing strategies and leading complex negotiations
- Proven track record of delivering measurable value and leading high‑impact sourcing initiatives
- Experience operating in External Manufacturing and/or regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar) strongly preferred
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross‑functional initiatives
- Strong strategic thinking combined with execution excellence
- Advanced negotiation and commercial acumen
- Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders in complex environments
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities
- Leadership presence with ability to operate effectively in evolving, lower‑maturity environments
- Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience
Experience leading teams or significant cross‑functional initiatives required.
