We organize a free meal every Thursday for around 45 people in De Drie Ranken. Volunteers help with cooking, serving and cleaning up. We provide a fully equipped kitchen and a friendly team.
Responsibilities- Plan and prepare a full meal for ~45 guests once every six weeks.
- Decide the menu together with the other cook, taking into account the food received from the food bank.
- Shop for additional ingredients and manage the budget to keep costs low (vegetarian meals are preferred).
- Prepare ingredients and cook the meal on Thursday, ensuring it is ready by 5:30 pm.
- Work with volunteers to set up the kitchen, serve guests, and clean up by 7:30 pm.
- Willingness to cook for large groups; experience with larger gatherings is a plus.
- Basic cooking skills; no prior experience is acceptable - we will provide guidance.
- Ability to follow a budget and create a two?' or three?'course meal.
- Understanding of Dutch is helpful but not required.
Location: De Drie Ranken kitchen, Eglantierlaan 202, entrance at Violierenplein. The schedule is as follows:
• Wednesday ~6 pm: receive leftover supplies from the food bank.
• Thursday morning: shop for extra ingredients.
• Thursday afternoon: cook and serve until 6:30 pm.
• Thursday evening: volunteers eat together and finish cleaning by 7:30 pm. The kitchen remains fully equipped and ready for any cook.
