Bunker Superintendent - Vessel Support

APM Terminals is hiring a Bunker Superintendent to support bunkering operations onboard container vessels calling designated terminals. This position is based in Rotterdam and offered on a fixed?'term contract of 12 months with APM Terminals. Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate bunkering operations with vessel command, Energy Trading Operations, Technical Ship Management (TbM), and port agents prior to vessel arrival.
  • Familiarize yourself with vessel?'specific fuel transfer systems to safely manage filling and stripping operations.
  • Supervise bunkering operations onboard in accordance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and agreed pre?'bunkering plans.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant documentation, including Bunker Delivery Notes (BDN), Oil Record Book (ORB) entries, checklists and operational logs.
  • Act with authority to sign commercial and operational bunker documentation on behalf of the vessel.
  • Capture operational feedback and lessons learned and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with MLC 2006 working and rest hour regulations, including personal reporting.
Qualifications
  • Chief Engineer or Second Engineer with seagoing experience.
  • Valid Certificate of Competency Class 1 or Class 2 (Engine) with appropriate flag endorsement.
  • Proven hands?'on experience on large container vessels, preferably EEE, 19K, H?'class.
  • Ability to navigate and operate independently within complex engine room environments.
  • Strong operational judgment, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions in time?'critical situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong command of English.
  • A clear safety?'first mindset with solid understanding of maritime safety, environmental and compliance standards.
  • Comfortable working flexibly in line with vessel schedules, including irregular hours.
