ABOUT US

We’re the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we’re proud to support the global economy.

We’re unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We’re always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.

We are seeking a highly skilled security professional to join our Protective Security Services team as a key contributor, reporting directly to the Global Head of Protective Security. This NL-based role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight and is critical to safeguarding Swift’s senior leadership and strengthening our global security posture.

Primary Responsibilities – Executive Protection Programme Advisor

The successful candidate will lead Swift’s Executive Protection programme, providing expert guidance to ensure the protection of senior leadership across global operations. This programme-focused role involves coordinating security measures for executives, their families (where appropriate), and key environments—including offices, residences, travel routes, and high-profile events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgment, global situational awareness, and the ability to manage risk effectively without disrupting business continuity.

Secondary Responsibilities – Security specialist

Beyond Executive protection, the candidate will play a pivotal role in fortifying Swift’s security framework. This includes managing incidents, driving improvements in security processes, policies, and standards, and supporting the execution of complex, large-scale security initiatives.

The Role
  • Provide strategic leadership for global executive protection programmes, ensuring measures are discreet, proportionate, and effective.
  • Assess and mitigate physical, reputational, and geopolitical threats to senior leadership.
  • Oversee security for residences, travel, and high-profile events, including risk assessments and secure logistics.
  • Develop and maintain executive protection policies aligned with business risk appetite and international standards.
  • Deliver threat intelligence briefings to senior leadership and coordinate with internal teams and external partners for integrated security solutions
  • Lead incident management processes of the Global Corporate Security team, including response coordination and post-incident analysis to strengthen organizational resilience.
  • Drive continuous improvement of security processes, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with global regulations and best practices.
  • Support the execution of complex, large-scale security initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., cybersecurity, legal, compliance, operations) and external partners (e.g., law enforcement, security vendors) to maintain a safe and compliant operational environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging risks and recommend proactive measures to mitigate potential threats across global operations.
  • Provide strategic input into security governance frameworks and contribute to long-term planning for organizational security posture.
  • The role will require some international travel on an ad hoc basis to attend meetings and events.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years demonstrated in the security field.
  • Extensive experience in executive protection programmes or senior-level physical security roles, ideally in a financial or critical infrastructure setting.
  • Strong understanding of global threat environments, travel risk, surveillance, and protective intelligence.
  • Discretion, sound judgement, and the ability to advise with authority at board level.
  • Experience working internationally, with awareness of local risk dynamics, logistics, and legal considerations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders while managing risk pragmatically.
  • Proven crisis management experience, including evacuation, medical emergencies, and incident coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to engage cross-functionally and with senior management.
  • Take accountability for delivering results by deciding on and pursuing the best course of action to deliver results following in-depth analyses of relevant issues and conflicting factors and after assessing foreseeable risks; follows through to ensure delivery and closure or escalates as needed.
  • Demonstrates operational excellence by defining, implementing and managing to the highest standards of operational excellence required for service delivery.
Desirable
  • Qualifications such as CPP, PSP, CSMP® or relevant military/police protective security training.
  • Background in project management and liaison activities for diplomatic security, corporate executive programmes.
  • Experience working with family offices or high-net-worth individuals.
