Independent Working Cook I

Ashoka Amsterdam is a renowned Indian restaurant located in the heart of Amsterdam. To strengthen our kitchen team, we are seeking an Independent Working Cook I (Zelfstandig Werkend Kok I) with a strong passion for gastronomy, attention to detail, and the ability to perform consistently in a high-end, busy kitchen environment.

Tasks

As an Independent Working Cook I, you will be responsible for:

• Independently preparing ingredients and mise en place
• Applying fundamental cooking techniques in a high-end, fast-paced kitchen
• Contributing ideas and input to menu development and kitchen working methods
• Ensuring consistent quality, hygiene (HACCP), and efficiency
• Delivering dishes in line with the culinary standards of Ashoka Amsterdam

Teamwork & Development

• You will work independently within your assigned section (partie)
• You will collaborate closely with experienced and supportive chefs within the kitchen team, with learning and development at the core
• Based on performance and potential, internal growth and career progression opportunities are available

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

• Education level: EQF Level 3 – Skilled vocational level
  (Dutch mbo Level 3 or equivalent vocational qualification)
• Demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques
• Experience in a professional, high-volume kitchen is an advantage

Benefits

• Salary starting from €2,650 to €3,050 gross per month, in accordance with the Dutch Horeca Collective Labour Agreement (Horeca CAO), depending on knowledge and experience.
