Residential Support Worker | New Location: Specialized Ukraine Shelter

From our new, small-scale shelter in the Veluwe region for Ukrainian refugees suffering from war trauma, you will provide daily support and a safe home as a residential counselor. You will be present in the residential group, assisting with practical matters and offering emotional support.

Wat ga je doen?

At the residential group, you and your colleagues will serve as the primary point of contact for approximately 15 Ukrainian displaced persons with social and psychological vulnerabilities. They face serious and complex challenges, which require intensive support. The focus is on providing structure and targeted support, with the goal of stabilization and recovery. The housing location is temporary: after stabilization, the resident returns to their former home or moves on to a suitable follow-up facility.

As a residential support worker, you assist residents with daily routines, such as cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping. You provide both practical and emotional support. This ranges from offering a listening ear during times of stress and trauma to encouraging social interaction and independence. You identify signs of overwhelm or relapse. In cases of complex issues, you promptly consult with colleagues or specialized support services.

In addition, you contribute to a warm and stable group atmosphere. Safety and respect are central. You facilitate (small) group activities. You work in a culturally sensitive manner and have an understanding of profound traumatic experiences and the vulnerability of this target group.

As a residential care worker, you work irregular shifts, including day, evening, and overnight shifts.

Dit ben jij

• You have completed a relevant secondary vocational (MBO-level) education in a social care field (e.g., Social Work, Social Care, or similar) Important: If you obtained your diploma outside the Netherlands, it must be officially recognized/credential evaluated in the Netherlands (diploma waardering)
• You have affinity with or experience working with vulnerable target groups (e.g., refugees, people with psychological or social challenges)
• You are flexible and willing to work irregular shifts
• You are fluent in Ukrainian, Armenian, or Russian; this is an asset when communicating with residents

• Salary: CAO Sociaal Werk  scale 6 (€2,903 - €4,335 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek)
• Contract: 12 months for 24, 28, or 32 hours per week
